Living In Chaos

It's a Saturday morning. I am sitting at the table surrounded by dirty breakfast dishes and a nearly empty container of milk. There are clean clothes in the front room, shoes in a pile by the door. Our beds are unmade and the 4 year old pooped in his pull-ups.

And so, here I sit at the computer, trying to do anything but clean.

I could go to the grocery store but then I wonder if that means I have to put on a bra and wash off the smeared mascara from under my eyes. I even have a shopping list in front of me. It includes 8 new kinds of flour I think I might try. Anybody have any experience with celiac disease? I'm working on a Dr. Mom diagnosis.

Speaking of moms, I sure wish my mom still cleaned the house. She was a strict mother. She made me clean my room and sometimes I even had to fold clothes.

Those were the good old days.

  1. I didn't get to hike in Utah-what a bummer. Looks like the kids had fun :) Glad you didn't die.

So you can't have gluten huh? That sucks. My sister in law can't have gluten either. What makes you think that? I should send you her email!

  2. Putting off the to-do list is always first on my to-do list.

I can talk celiac all you want. Here's my favorite symptom list - because I'm into anything that can cause a "fatty stool."

  3. I'll come clean your house if you do mine...we both sound like we are in the same mode right now, so glad I'm not alone, misery loves company! ;)

  4. Other than the pull ups, it sounds like our house. And I too, will do just about anything rather than tackle the cleaning.

The husband and son are off running errands, so I have the messy place to myself. And I should be making it less messy.

One of my favorite things? Reading blog posts and leaving comments...thanks for helping me avoid housework a few minutes longer!

  5. Celiac? I'm so sorry! I heard spelt has little enough gluten that a lot of people with C can still use it. It's yummy, albeit pricey, but I think it needs fewer extra special ingredients to make decent bread.

  6. I'm so glad I'm not the only one reading and writing blogs when there are loads of houseworky jobs screaming out to be done.

I've just finished my cup of tea so I'm going to shut down the pc and go do some REAL work...

Well maybe just in a minute...

  7. P.S. My sister eats Gluten Free so I have gathered a few recipes for nicer treats to bake when she is coming to visit...

Little Lemon Polenta cakes, bluberry Friands, Spelt bread etc. I can email any of them to you if you like.

  8. You sound like me on a Saturday morning. In fact, I played around on the computer, watched movies, and did little else today. Finally had dinner ready around 7:30! Isn't it fun to be a bit lazy sometimes? My problem is that it takes over my weekend.... my form of recuperation after teaching all week.

Good luck with the gluten-free diet.... I've read a little about celiac disease, but not enough for anyone to listen to me :-)

  9. Wow sounds like all of us have work to do that we are avoiding. We should start a club, I'll come up with the handshake.

Braces!

13 year old got braces today! She also had a little helper on her.

I am being published!

I know! It just reeks of excitement, doesn't it?  I know what you are thinking. "Who would publish that woman's thoughts?" The answer is a lovely little outfit called www.blog2print.com. In other words, I haven't been discovered. I am no closer to being a published author than I was yesterday EXCEPT that by Christmas I will be the proud owner of my very own blog book! I know. It's a little anticlimactic but here's the cool part. My friend, Becki, found me entertaining and directed me to a blog called www.josikilpack.blogspot.com.  She posted a little coupon code for 20% off which was supposed to end last week. Apparently, the code is still good and I saved $14. That said, you know it isn't exactly the cheapest way to get published but it's the best price I could find on publishing my blog!  And it requires very little technical know-how.  And that, my friends, tickles my heart. And, for a small price of your integrity and dignity, I will share the ...

Wordful Wednesday and Clever Much? Rarely!

Sometimes my brilliance blinds me! Speaking of brilliance, before we continue this discussion, if you are my mother in law, stop reading. Walk away. At least until after Christmas. Seriously. My own mother doesn't read my blog. I think it has something to do with words like "socially awkward" and "mortifying." She knows me. She doesn't have to read about me. She can just pretend like I turned out normal. Anyway, if the mother-in-law has exited the website, check out what she's getting for Christmas! TADA! I'd like to give a special shout out to the internet and whatever site I was cruising through last week for planting this idea into my head. Usually not this creative and I definitely don't know where I got the energy to take the kids out for pictures. Or go to Walmart for the frame. And Robert's for the mat. Costco for the pictures.  Yeah, I painted the frame, too. So not my style. Anymore. I also ordered a canvas print for my husband but I...
