Tonight my 9 year old son got out a container of ice cream and a scoop. He struggled terribly to get out a scoop. Frozen solid.
"Put in the microwave for 20 seconds," I suggested.
He gave me a long and pitying glare. "Mom. That is way too long," he enunciated as if speaking to a person with a very low I.Q.
Poor kid. He hasn't learned how to tap into my culinary genius, limited as it may be. Ice cream and I have a long and rocky (road) history.

Silly children, ice cream is for grown ups.
ReplyDeleteSome day when he is trying to impress a girl (and ice-cream is a real winner!) he will think back to what his wonderful mother told him and he will be oh so glad she was wise and experienced in all things frozen.
ReplyDeleteMy husband gets really mad when I nuke ice cream. He says it makes him gross.
ReplyDeleteDarn it, now I'm craving ice cream at 9am.
ReplyDeleteLOL leave it to the child to "doubt" the culinary genius in the home! HA! That's okay - leaves more for you! :o)
ReplyDeleteI prefer a slow thaw so as not to slime the sides of the brick. It takes patience but the result is worth it. ~wink
ReplyDeleteBahahahahahaha! How would YOU know? You're ONLY Mom! HA!
ReplyDeleteOh the knowledge we posses!
