Web MD

My husband was miserable. He had been suffering terribly for such a long time. It started with a stuffy nose and sore throat which quickly escalated to a sinus infection. His doctor prescribed an antibiotic. His sore throat became raw and incredibly painful. Eating became a chore. The burning sensation spread to the inside of his mouth, particularly his tongue.

Being the ever helpful and dutiful wife, I went to the best of the best self-diagnosing sites on the internet. After plugging in the affected areas of his body, I got a definitive answer.

He's going through menopause.

Surprisingly, he didn't take me at my word. He called his doctor who asked about antibiotics and indicated that the medication had killed the good bacteria and here's a prescription.

It cleared up. Go figure.

Just in case you didn't know, Web MD often gets things right on the dollar, as seen here and here. They are quite a pair; one with his bags packed and ready to fly off to the leprosy colony in Hawaii while the other is treating her undiagnosed case of cancer.

Moral of the story: Always trust what's on the internet. It's true.

  2. Bahahahahaha! That is too funny! I can't imagine why he didn't accept your diagnosis. He must have been really sick to not believe you and call the doctor anyway.

  3. Oh, I know. I believer EVERYTHING I read online. Same goes for email.

Any day now, I should be getting that $3.2 million from that nice barrister in Nigeria.

  4. what I can't believe, is that the doctor didn't look into the possibility of menopause. What is healthcare coming to?

  9. Awesome. Come to think of it, I think my husband is going through menopause too. I wonder if there's a pill for that.

  10. I hope that isn't sarcasm. Because I totally just won the Nigerian lottery. I just have to send them my account number...

  11. If it's in print, it MUST be true. I think that's a rule somewhere.

On another note, you could try Medline Plus. Another great self-diagnosing website.

  12. His "doctor" is clearly a quack. The interenets know all.

(A hysterectomy can't be far behind, the poor dear.)

  13. You are just too funny!

It just sounds like a bad case of PMT to me! Poor love. Just pop him to bed with a hot water bottle, two paracetamol and a bar of chocolate....

  14. Oh I love it! I haven't tried that trick out, but I just might have to. On the other hand, can you imagine what kind of media circus it would be were he going through menopause? ;)

  15. I homeschool and order most stuff second hand online. I have been using a reading system that comes in a box with a ton of stuff and wanted to start the program with my second kiddo. I got online thinking I could just find the replacement workbooks for it instead of buying the whole curriculum again and spent a frustrating hour browsing amazon, ebay, googling etc. Eventually I went and got the box which had a huge help line number on the side. When called a motherly person on the other end sells you brand new replacement books for cheaper than online. Maybe the internet is not always the source of power I thought it was (sigh).

Braces!

13 year old got braces today! She also had a little helper on her.

I am being published!

I know! It just reeks of excitement, doesn't it?  I know what you are thinking. "Who would publish that woman's thoughts?" The answer is a lovely little outfit called www.blog2print.com. In other words, I haven't been discovered. I am no closer to being a published author than I was yesterday EXCEPT that by Christmas I will be the proud owner of my very own blog book! I know. It's a little anticlimactic but here's the cool part. My friend, Becki, found me entertaining and directed me to a blog called www.josikilpack.blogspot.com.  She posted a little coupon code for 20% off which was supposed to end last week. Apparently, the code is still good and I saved $14. That said, you know it isn't exactly the cheapest way to get published but it's the best price I could find on publishing my blog!  And it requires very little technical know-how.  And that, my friends, tickles my heart. And, for a small price of your integrity and dignity, I will share the ...

Wordful Wednesday and Clever Much? Rarely!

Sometimes my brilliance blinds me! Speaking of brilliance, before we continue this discussion, if you are my mother in law, stop reading. Walk away. At least until after Christmas. Seriously. My own mother doesn't read my blog. I think it has something to do with words like "socially awkward" and "mortifying." She knows me. She doesn't have to read about me. She can just pretend like I turned out normal. Anyway, if the mother-in-law has exited the website, check out what she's getting for Christmas! TADA! I'd like to give a special shout out to the internet and whatever site I was cruising through last week for planting this idea into my head. Usually not this creative and I definitely don't know where I got the energy to take the kids out for pictures. Or go to Walmart for the frame. And Robert's for the mat. Costco for the pictures.  Yeah, I painted the frame, too. So not my style. Anymore. I also ordered a canvas print for my husband but I...
