    We got chicks last year around now and I love them. I wish I could get more chicks this year, because they are so stinkin' cute... but I don't think we can. We have 8 chickens, two different breeds and they are back to laying 8 eggs a day. we really need closer to 10 a day but I've heard it's not good to add to your established group of chickens... chickens can be really mean to each other! During the winter I almost made them into stew because they stopped laying and just ate and ate and ate. I'm aware that I could have figured out some sort of light system to keep them laying but it all just seemed too complicated, ha ha! My kids love our chickens and they really love gathering the eggs. Chickens are WAY better then cows! ;) I'm excited for you guys! If you let them out a lot to free range then you don't end up spending as much on their food... plus there are lots of table scrapes you can feed them as well. My kids love finding bugs and worms and feeding them to the chickens, keeps them entertained for hours! Okay I'm done now... :)

July 24th marks the anniversary that the first wagon trains arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. Going through old files from graduate school, I found an invaluable pamphlet. Be a Dedicated Neurotic Remember the Past. . . and Regret it. Abhor the Present. Dread the Future. 1. Flu

The flu has been making its way through our family.  The first to be hit was the 15 year old.  She was very, very angry.  At me.  She had been begging for the flu shot for the past three months.  I kept forgetting.  She got better but it's one more thing to discuss on her future therapist's couch.
